GREEN DESIGN SERVICES

Today, there are numerous efforts in the construction industry to sell consumers “green” solutions that are actually the same old thing, only repackaged.  Indeed, true green solutions go far beyond the products and equipment pitched to make a project more environmentally friendly.  A true green building should continue to function in the absence of add-ons, and should cause minimal impact to the environment throughout it’s entire life-cycle: from construction to demolition.


Architects were the original green builders; they understand that every project begins with a complete evaluation of the construction site and the impact their design decisions will place on the future of that site.  David Holland Architect continues that tradition by allowing each site and it’s nuances to influence and drive the design of the project.  We take into account macro and micro climate, sun paths throughout the year, as well as cultural and social issues.


For those clients seeking to have their buildings certified under a particular green building program, David Holland Architect is qualified to offer every program available in Texas including LEED, LEED for Homes, Build San Antonio Green, and Energy Star.

However, it is important to understand that the absence of certification does not prelude a project from implementing the principles of green design, or prevent it from going beyond the benchmarks of a certification program. Every project, regardless of certification, may be designed and built to maximize it’s “green” potential.
